Our family trip to Puri this July was filled with devotion, joy, delicious food, and unforgettable memories for the children. Although the annual Ratha Jatra (Car Festival) had not yet begun, we were fortunate to witness the magnificent wooden chariots still under construction—a remarkable display of craftsmanship passed down through generations.

During this period, Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra reside in the Anasara Ghara, where the deities remain away from public view for a brief period before the grand festival. Being part of this sacred time gave us a unique spiritual experience.

One of the first things that impressed us was how clean and well-maintained the roads throughout the city are. The atmosphere was welcoming, organized, and surprisingly peaceful despite the large number of visitors.

No trip to Puri is complete without tasting its famous sweets. We enjoyed the authentic Rasgulla, the traditional Chhena Poda, and rich, creamy Rabdi. Every bite reflected the rich culinary heritage of Odisha and delighted both adults and children alike.

Evenings at the Golden Beach were simply magical. Watching the waves, building sandcastles with the kids, enjoying the cool sea breeze, and witnessing the beautiful sunset created memories that will stay with us forever.

Travelling around Puri is both convenient and affordable. The city is well connected by train and long-distance buses, making it easy to reach from different parts of India. Local transportation is equally impressive. Town buses charge only ₹10–₹15 per person, while auto-rickshaw fares generally range from ₹20 to ₹120, depending on the distance and the number of passengers. This makes sightseeing economical for families.
